YOUTH & LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM
About Our Acclaimed Youth Martial Arts Program:
At Performance Martial Arts Academy, we provide a safe and fun environment for your children so that they can build confidence, while learning the virtues of respect, hard work, and problem-solving, taught through martial arts.
Youth martial arts classes at Performance Martial Arts Academy are broken into three separate age groups: Ages 4-5, Ages 6-9 and Ages 10-14.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is the focus of our youth program. Jiu Jitsu translates to gentle art. BJJ is a modern grappling martial art that focuses on leverage and technique. It does not involve hitting and kicking. It is founded on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a larger, stronger attacker through superior technique. Jiu Jitsu is a great way for children to focus their energy, develop coordination, improve strength, and gain confidence.
Our dedicated youth instructors are patient and encouraging, all while teaching your children life skills such as goal-setting, respecting others, and doing their personal best in class and at school. Classes are instructed in a formal, organized manner to ensure safety and to encourage students to focus and listen during class- all while having fun and making friends! We offer a one-of-a-kind curriculum designed to help your child retain information and technique. There will never be any fees associated with promotions, belts, or tests.
Whether your child has been bullied, needs a confidence-booster, or just needs a physically active outlet, Performance Martial Arts Academy is a positive, family-friendly environment for your children. All skill levels are welcome!
Life Skills Program:
Each month your child (ages 6-14) will receive a Life Skills worksheet that will keep track of their achievements. Examples of Life Skills topics are: respect, pride, humility, work ethic, goal setting, honesty & many more! Our program helps to reinforce positive behavior on the mat, in school and at home.
Option to Compete At Local Tournaments:
Many of our students choose to compete in grappling tournaments throughout the year. Competition is completely optional for your child, and will not negatively effect their progression if they choose not to participate. For those who are interested in competing, we offer an additional class on Saturday mornings from 10-11, to prepare students to compete. There is no additional cost for this class.
We provide mat-side coaching to support our students as they compete. Performance Martial Arts Academy coaches and competitors are known for being courteous and sportsmanship-like during these events.
Competing is very popular with our students, as it is a way to apply their skills in a safe manner. We are very proud of our advanced youth martial arts competitors who make up one of the top-ranked youth teams in the Northwest!
